New walking paths between SHS, SJHS to take effect in March

Beginning in March, North Colonie students will have an alternative path to cross between Shaker High School and Shaker Junior High School. These new paths will be in effect until at least June 2019 as we continue with our ongoing capital project.

Starting the first full week of March, from 6:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., students will use part of the track at Walker Field to get between SHS and SJHS. This path is denoted in purple on the above graphic. From 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., they will use a path that is off the track to get between both buildings. This path is denoted in red on the above graphic. Bus drop-off routes are marked in blue and will remain unaffected by this change.

These new routes will increase student safety by keeping the walking paths away from construction vehicles and other traffic. Fencing will also separate the construction area from the walking path itself.
