| August 29, 2014

Child gets face paintedNew students and their families got acquainted with the district and had some fun at this year’s Newcomers’ Picnic, held on Thursday, Aug. 28, at Shaker High School.

The picnic is a 34-year-old tradition in North Colonie, where at the end of each summer parents are invited to meet building principals, school secretaries, administrators, Board of Education members, PTA representatives and other parent and staff representatives of our schools. New students have a chance to get acquainted with the district, but also have fun with a magician, storyteller and balloon artist on hand. Superintendent D. Joseph Corr speaks to parents at the Newcomer’s Picnic

After dinner, parents watched a video introduction to the district (watch it below) and were welcomed by Superintendent D. Joseph Corr.

“You’ve come to a district committed to providing the very best for its students,” said Corr.

Welcome, new students and families!
