Community members will have an opportunity to meet the two candidates running for one seat on the North Colonie Board of Education during a forum at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 in the District Office Conference Room, 91 Fiddlers Lane in Latham.
Candidates will make opening statements, then respond to written questions submitted by audience members. The session will conclude after all questions are answered and each candidate has made brief closing remarks.
The two candidates running for the five-year term are incumbent Paula D’Orazio and first-time candidate Timothy J. O’Connor.
A special school board meeting and public hearing on the proposed $107.2 million budget for the 2017-18 school year will follow the board candidate forum.
The school board election will be held with the annual district budget vote on Tuesday, May 16. A capital project referendum (proposition 2) will also be on the May 16 ballot. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Goodrich Building at 91 Fiddlers Lane, Latham.
