Latham Ridge holds Virtual STEAM Day for students

On Friday, June 5, Latham Ridge held a Virtual STEAM Day with activities for all grade levels. STEAM Day celebrated the learning, creativity and problem-solving skills students learned throughout the year. The plan was to hold STEAM Day in person, however, after the school closure was announced, third grade teacher Paige Rossi advocated to find a way to still put on this special day.

Latham Ridge teachers and staff worked together to contribute videos, brainstorm activities and get students excited about using their STEAM skills.

Rossi and second grade teacher Michele Sano collected the activities and videos and separated them into three different slideshows, designed specially with grade-level appropriateness in mind. In place of assignments on June 5, each classroom teacher posted their grade level’s STEAM Day slideshow.

At the end of the day, all students were encouraged to share their favorite part of STEAM Day. It could include one of the projects they created, a proud moment they had or the activity they liked best. More than 180 students shared their thoughts.

Additionally, staff members shared their STEAM Day activities in the STEAM Day kick-off video.
