Grades K-6 transition to remote learning until Tuesday, Jan. 19

| January 11, 2021

Dear North Colonie Community,

As case numbers continue to increase in our school community, and as we continue to follow new health department guidance about symptomatic employees, we are struggling to fully staff our schools and our transportation department. Due to these challenges, we are left with no other viable alternative than to have our K-6 students move to remote learning through Friday, Jan. 15.

All students in the full-day self-contained special education programs will remain in person.

We anticipate and eagerly look forward to all of our students K-12 returning to in-person learning on Tuesday, Jan. 19. We will update families if there are any changes on Friday, Jan. 15.

I want you all to know that we considered every option and alternative before we reached this decision. We know this has a large impact on our students and our families and we are saddened when we do not see our students in the building. Please know that we remain committed to providing all of our K-12 students with the option to learn in-person.

We will be using this time to again review our schedules and structures to see if we can make improvements that will allow us to mitigate some of these staffing challenges and remain in-person for learning in the future.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support during this time.

Please reach out to your child’s school principal if you have any questions.
