Four North Colonie schools have been identified by the New York State Education Department as “Reward Schools” for the 2015-16 school year based on 2013-14 school year results:
Shaker High School
Boght Hills Elementary
Out of 4,530 public schools in the state, 361 schools were selected. Reward Schools are schools that have made the most progress and/or are schools that have the highest achievement in the state without significant gaps in student achievement between subgroups. Schools will receive a Certificate of Recognition from the NYS Commissioner of Education.
“I applaud the efforts of our administrators, faculty and staff in each of the reward schools who are diligently, on a daily basis, promoting the academic achievement of all our students,” said Superintendent Joseph Corr. “Likewise, we know that the growth shown by our students at Shaker Junior High School, Blue Creek, Latham Ridge, and Forts Ferry represents the substantial efforts of those school communities as well.”
