Dear North Colonie Elementary Families,
As the leaves start to change color outside, we ready ourselves for parent/guardian conferences with our elementary teachers. Though we are just starting our third week of school, it is always important to communicate what is upcoming so that you may plan accordingly.
This year, we will be conducting our parent/teacher conferences differently, due to the health and safety protocols within the district. Instead of having family members come into our schools to meet with teachers, conferences will be held remotely. Although these meetings will look a bit different this year, they will be no less important, as our teachers have the opportunity to talk with you about your child.
This year we have the following three dates reserved for parent/guardian conferences:
- Friday, October 23
- Wednesday, October 28
- Thursday, November 19
These dates will continue to be half-days of instruction for all elementary students, though students will not attend in-person. Our plan is to continue to have these three days be half days, as they traditionally have been, however your student will be working remotely, utilizing the platforms our teachers have developed for this school year. To be clear, your student, if attending in-person school currently, will be staying home on these three half-days and working remotely.
If your student is currently in our Remote Elementary School, he/she will also have half days on these dates.
On these three dates, our half day will be 8:30-11:30 a.m. for all K-6 students. These half days of instruction will include a morning meeting with the homeroom teacher, independent work assigned and an asynchronous special in art, physical education or music.
Lastly, our district originally had scheduled Tuesday, Nov. 3, Election Day, as a Superintendent’s Conference Day. We wanted to remind you that we used our conference days in the beginning of September to ensure a safe and effective transition back to school. As a result, November 3 will now be a regular day of instruction for all learners.
We look forward to meeting with you and appreciate your flexibility. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s principal.
D. Joseph Corr
