Community Announcements

The district is a central hub of activity in the community, particularly as it relates to educational and recreational opportunities available to children. This page is used to share information about programs supported by the district, non-profits, government agencies and other organizations that support our students. For more information about the activities and organizations listed below, please use the contact information provided with each entry. If you have a community announcement you would like posted, please email NancyMason@ncolonie.org. Please allow two to three weeks lead time in sending to make sure it gets posted/distributed in a timely manner.


Amazing Athletes Classes for Students

Amazing Athletes is a multi-sport program that benefits children physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. The program introduces the fundamentals of 10 different sports in a fast-paced, action-packed 45-minute class! All levels and abilities are welcome. Visit

2021 School Break Camps from The Arts Center of the Capital Region

General Information

In-Person Camps

  • Camps run Monday-Friday | 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Members: $275 | Non-Members $300
  • Material Fee: $25-$45 (varies by camp)

Online Camps

  • Camps run Monday-Friday online via Zoom
  • 9-10 a.m. (Ages 6-11)
  • 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. (Ages 11-17)
  • *Daily check-ins will also occur during each camp day to assist campers with projects
  • Members: $65 | Non-Members $75

COVID-19 Protocols

  1. Masks must be worn by all campers and staff at all times while in the building. Mask breaks will be given during snack/lunch.
  2. Temperature checks will occur each morning at check in.
  3. Camp sizes have been limited in our studios to ensure safe social distancing.
  4. All families will be required to read and sign our COVID waiver and behavioral promise prior to the start of each camp.

Scholarships Available

How do I apply?

It’s easy. Families who are interested in applying can apply through the online scholarship application form on their website. Each family will answer a set of brief questions and select their classes or camps of choice.

Calvary Methodist Preschool 2021 Summer Camp

The camp is open to all children who have completed a 3-year-old program, through children who have completed kindergarten (3.5-6 years old). With permission younger children may attend three days per week for $75. Please contact us for more information.

Cost is $120 per week, with a 10% discount on 3 or more weeks.

Program for 4-Year-Olds and Entering Kindergartners

In this fun summer program, your child will learn to read. Children learn letter recognition, beginning phonics, and easy sight words. Your child will learn to read simple words and short sentences and will be excited about books and reading.

Program for Entering 1st Graders

In this fun summer program, your child will learn to read independently. Children learn phonics and sight words, build fluency and comprehension, and develop a love of books and reading. Your child will be excited about reading and get off to a great start in first grade.

Program for Entering 2nd Graders

In this fun summer program, your child will become a fluent, confident reader. Children build solid phonics and word-attack skills and develop reading fluency and strong comprehension. Your child will gain confidence, be excited about books and reading, and get off to a great start in second grade.

Program for Entering 3rd Graders

In this fun summer program, your child will become a strong, enthusiastic reader. Children improve reading fluency and develop excellent comprehension. They build long-word decoding skills and expand their vocabulary. Your child will gain confidence, develop a lifelong love of books and reading, and get off to a great start in third grade.

Programs for Entering 4th and 5th Graders

In these fun and effective programs, your child will become a skilled, enthusiastic reader and a better writer. Students develop strong comprehension skills in fiction, non-fiction, and textbooks. They expand their vocabulary, and learn to read more fluently and rapidly. Students learn effective techniques that will improve their writing skills and build their confidence as writers. Your child will complete homework and writing assignments more quickly and easily, get better grades, and enjoy reading more.

Programs for Entering 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th Graders

In these effective and enjoyable programs, your son or daughter will make substantial gains in comprehension in fiction and nonfiction, learn to read twice as fast, and become a better writer. Students expand their vocabulary and learn the best way to take notes and study for tests. Students learn effective techniques that will improve their writing skills and build their confidence as writers. Your child will complete homework and writing assignments more quickly and easily, get better grades, and enjoy reading more.

Calvary Methodist Preschool 2021-22 classes and tuition rates

  • 3 year old 2 days- Tues./Thurs $210/month
  • 3 year old 3 days- Mon./Wed./Fri. or Tues.-Thurs.(TBD) $250/month
  • 4 year old 3 days- Mon./Wed./Fri. $250/month
  • 4 year old 5 days- Mon.-Fri. $300/month

*Students must meet the age requirement for each class by December 1, 2021. This follows North Colonie regulations.

*June 2022 tuition (one month tuition)and a $50 registration fee are due upon registration in order to secure your child’s spot in the class. 1st month’s tuition should be mailed directly to Calvary Methodist 15 Ridge Pl. Latham, NY 12110.
