More than 1,000 Shaker High School students had the unique opportunity to attend a presentation from a Cirque du Soleil acrobat, Chris Gatti, in their physical education classes this week. Gatti has a decorated academic background, with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, a master’s degree in biomedical engineering, and a Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering.
However, at the root of his interests was always gymnastics, a sport he has practiced since he was four years old. While Gatti was working on his Ph.D., he applied to Cirque du Soleil. What resulted was a 16 month tour with the company in South America, specifically Chile, Peru, Costa Rica, Columbia, and Mexico. Gatti performed the show titled, “Corteo.”
Shaker High School Coach Marbry Gansle made contact with Gatti through her affiliation with World Class Gymnastics. Gatti presented to eight of the 16 physical education classes at the high school, with a message of lifelong fitness and following your passions and dreams.
