Blue Creek students combine music and art in landscape project

| February 6, 2019

Sixth grade students showcased their art and music talents in a culminating project.

In music class, students listened to several clips and discussed the characteristics and timbre of each clip. Students then chose a clip to use as their “muse” to create a landscape project in art class. During the project, students continued to listen to their selected choice of music, using their own interpretation to create the art landscape.

At the conclusion of the project, students created a QR code. The code was presented at the bottom of the artwork and linked to their “muse” music. The landscapes were displayed in the school hallway as an art gallery.

Students in third grade then participated in a “gallery walk” where they viewed the artwork and scanned the QR codes to listen to the corresponding music. Students then took part in a discussion about their interpretation of the artwork and music.
