“Back to School” Night for Parents

| September 12, 2018

Once again this year, Shaker Junior High School will conduct an orientation session for parents of our students.  Parents will follow the daily schedule of their son or daughter and be given a brief informational overview by most of their child’s teachers, specifically those teachers your children have at this time of the year.

The Seventh and Eighth Grade Back-to-School Night for Parents will be held on Thursday, September 27, beginning at 6:30PM

We hope that each of you will take the time to attend our orientation.  It will give you a great opportunity to see the professionals who work daily with your children.  Parking can be a problem!  Parents should keep in mind that we have two lots that can be used, much more capacity than in past years.  Parents can also always consider carpooling and/or parking at the high school and walking to the junior high.  Be aware of the bus loop that is clearly marked!  Do not park in this loop – it is a fire lane and we need to maintain access for emergency vehicles to the building. Also, build extra time into arriving at school in a timely manner.  We will begin promptly at 6:30PM: each year we have many parents who arrive late due to parking or traffic.  Please do not park on neighbors’ lawns along Rte. 155; the property owners do not want you parking there.

When you arrive at school, you should report to your son’s/daughter’s homeroom, so you need to be sure to get that information from your junior high youngster!  In homeroom there will be a short video welcome from Dr. Moore, Building Principal, and, most importantly, you will pick up your youngster’s schedule!   Or, parents can print their own copy of their child’s schedule via the Parent Portal and bring that instead!  There will be maps of the building on the back of schedules found in homerooms to assist you.  There will also be Student Council members available in the hallways to direct you if lost!

We look forward to seeing you Back to School on the 27th!
