A letter from the superintendent – awaiting updated protocols, meal pick up next week and school calendar change
Dear North Colonie families,
I hope you are all doing well following Wednesday’s storms and that if power has not already been restored, it will be soon. First, I want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we had to close Loudonville and Southgate yesterday and today due to power outages. As a reminder, remote and hybrid learners will not be penalized if they were unable to attend class due to power outages in the area.
As we head into the long weekend, there are a few updates I would like to share with you:
Albany County Department of Health Update
The Albany County school superintendents planned to meet with the Albany County Department of Health this week to discuss the recently updated return-to-school protocols and guidance. However, the meeting was postponed until next week, as Albany County is looking to clarify some things with the state. We will share updated information with our families as soon as it is available.
Meal Pick Up Next Week
If you are participating in our meal pick up, please note that breakfast and lunch can be picked up on Tuesday (Oct. 13) and Thursday (Oct. 15) next week due to the Monday holiday. Meals can be picked up behind Blue Creek from 10-11 a.m.
Change in School Calendar – Election Day, Nov. 3
The printed calendar that was mailed to all families in early August states that Election Day (Tuesday, Nov. 3) is a Superintendent’s Conference Day. To prepare for the opening of school, the district moved all of its Superintendent’s Conference Days to the beginning of the school year. As a result, school will be in session on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Please contact your child’s principal if you have any questions.
Since we are not sending flyers for community events/organizations home in backpacks this year, I encourage you to check out the community announcements page on our website. This page will be updated as we receive flyers and information from local organizations. The community announcements page will be the best way to stay up to date.
I hope you are able to relax, unplug and enjoy the holiday weekend with your families. Thank you for your continued partnership.
D. Joseph Corr
Superintendent of Schools
