8th Grade Counseling Night to be held March 7

| February 12, 2019

Dear Parent/Guardian:

One of the most important school-related activities that you and your 8th grade child will share this year is planning an appropriate and valuable 9th grade program of study. Shaker High School offers a wide and varied course of study. To assist you in the process of understanding course options, the Shaker High School Counseling Department will be offering a parent evening program. This year the 8th Grade Night is scheduled for:

Thursday, March 7th, 2019 at 6:30 P.M. in the High School Auditorium.

During this evening, Administrators, Department Supervisors and School Counselors will be providing you with general information about graduation requirements, level of courses, and elective options.

Prior to the March 7th program, 8th grade students will be participating in classroom lessons with their Junior High School Counselors to obtain information about the 9th grade courses. We are excited to offer these opportunities to you and your student so that you can better work with your child to finalize their course selections for next year.

Please note, the High School Counselor assignments will be given to you during the parent program in March. Incoming 9th grade students will be assigned to a High School Counselor alphabetically by last name. In some cases, a student may not work with the same counselor as did prior family members.

Junior High School Counselors will be available to you throughout this process and will be sending additional information to you in the near future.  Course selections must be finalized by June 1, 2019.
