On Friday, February 2, a 1:1 Chromebook program was officially launched at Shaker Junior High School for grades 7 and 8, using G-Suite and other applications.

All students at SJHS have been loaned a Dell Chromebook 11 Model 3180 to be used at school and at home. The Chromebooks were given out one hall at a time over the course of four days beginning Tue., Jan. 30 and ended Fri., Feb. 2.

As 21st century learners, our students have grown up with technology as an integral part of their daily lives. Part of the district’s responsibility is to continually prepare students for their futures, we believe enhancing our classrooms and expanding our instructional repertoire with technology is a great way to support teaching and learning.

“Shaker Junior High School becoming a 1:1 school opens all sorts of instructional possibilities for our students,” said SJHS Principal Dr. Russell Moore. “Most teachers use Chromebooks now for various activities, but the opportunities can be limited due to the availability of class sets.”

“With the 1:1 initiative, teachers are free to use Chromebooks on a daily basis, if warranted, and students will have access to this excellent resource in school and at home,” said Dr. Moore.
