First graders in Mrs. Doolittle’s class worked with their book buddies in Mrs. Carroll’s third grade class to write “thankful messages” and decorate turkey placemats to send overseas to a troop in Afghanistan. More than 150 placemats were decorated, and attached to each placemat was a “lifesaver,” as many of the children used the phrase, “you are a lifesaver” in their messages to the soldiers.
