Greetings and welcome to the second month of the
school year! By now I am sure you and your children are settling in
to a routine and hopefully it has been a smooth one.
Our year has gotten off to a nice start.
Students and faculty have been working hard and I am thrilled to see
such a positive learning environment being established so early in
the school year.
The education landscape is changing. New
standards are being introduced and we are working diligently in
order to meet them. Our district's staff development committee is
working to provide various professional development opportunities
for staff, teachers and administrators at all stages of their
careers.
You can read more about that here. In North Colonie, we remain
committed to ongoing school and district improvement with a strong
focus on growing and sustaining teaching and learning. We continue
to be committed to promoting the growth and development of each
child in the district.
I encourage you to stay actively involved in
your child’s education. Involvement in your child’s learning can
take many forms and can incorporate experiences both inside and
outside of school. Try to incorporate some of these positive
experiences in your child’s life by way of simple activities such as
reading, visits to museums, and attendance at cultural events,
including concerts and plays. These are excellent family events that
do much to nurture a child’s growth and development.
Have a wonderful long weekend and I look forward
to seeing you around the district.
