Shaker High School’s Sports and Entertainment Marketing classes took a field trip to MetLife Stadium, provided by members of the MetLife Branding team. The students got to see the New York Giants Legacy room, which houses the Superbowl trophies and other Giants memorabilia, the Toyota Coaches Club, the Lexus Club Suite, the Press Box, and the Giants player’s locker room. The students also learned how professional sponsorships work and the benefits to the sponsors, stadium, team, and league.

Part of the day also focused on the business aspects of a stadium. The students learned about the financing for a professional sports stadium, various revenue streams within the stadium, and how other events, such as concerts, are attracted to maximize its use. The students will be using the information they learned as they design and build their own original “stadiums” as part of a semester long project.
