Southgate collects hundreds of items for families in need

| March 14, 2016

Students help collect and sort donated items.Thank you to the Southgate community for your generous donations of scarves, hats, gloves and personal care items for the clients of the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society (HATAS). HATAS was formed in 1924 with the mission to end homelessness within Albany County and the Capital Region.

Southgate’s Gator Aides, sixth grader Juana Merino-Lopez and fifth grader Milen Tesfaye, coordinated the drive. Each day, they counted the items and gave updates during the announcements to the students and staff. In all, more than 700 items were collected! HATAS is very grateful for the donations. Thank you to all who helped!
