The Boght Hills Mathematical Superheroes participate in a PTA fundraiser at Barnes & Noble.

On March 26, the Boght Hills PTA held a fundraiser at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Colonie Center. A portion of the proceeds, ($450) was earned to help the PTA provide opportunities for cultural events at school. During the event, Mrs. Compton’s sixth grade “Mathematical Superheroes” created and offered some challenging problems to solve, asking, ““Are You Smarter than a Mathematical Superhero?”

Students made bookmarks, and enjoyed searching for new books, CDs and games to add to their collections at home. In addition, guest readers from the staff shared their favorite stories with children. Students searched the bookstore for posters of exotic places around the world (Great Wall of China, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Big Ben, etc.) where they could learn about the places and see Mrs. Greiner and Ms. Pickett photoshopped into the picture. The homeroom with the greatest number of attendees won a game of recess basketball with Mrs. Greiner and Ms. Pickett.
