There are certain qualifications that a student must meet in 6th grade to be eligible for candidacy for Student Council in grade 7 at Shaker Junior High School.

Criteria for Candidates to Student Council

Students must have received effort and conduct grades of E or G (A or B if the A, B…scale is used) in all subjects in grade 6.

All officers must be willing to arrive at school early, stay after school, and work during activities to meet all responsibilities of the job to which they are elected.

All officers must be willing to organize grade level, hall and school activities.

The vice-president must be ready to work with the president on all designated activities.

Elections will be held in the beginning of the school year at which time more detailed information will be publicized to students. Officers or representatives may be removed from office for academic reasons, i.e. he/she no longer meets the effort/conduct criteria, or for misbehavior that is not consistent with the standards of the Student Council. Officers and representatives must serve as role model citizens; continual misbehavior of a minor nature or a single more serious incident may result in a student forfeiting his/her position.
