At Shaker Junior High School, each student
is assigned to one of four halls: Calhoun, Clay, Houston, and
Norris. Within each hall, students work with a counselor
assigned to that hall. Counselors work with the seventh and
eighth grade Math, Science, Social Studies and English teachers
within their respective halls to provide continuity while the
students are at the junior high school. Although the individual
is the focal point of the junior high program, group counseling
is also an integral part of the total program. Behavioral,
developmental, academic and related issues are addressed in
formal conferences. Wellness and self-esteem are targeted as
well as pre-career and occupational issues.
