The Shaker High Driver Education Program
serves approximately 220 students each school year, and the
course is offered during the fall, spring and summer terms.
Students are enrolled on a first-come-first-serve basis by
class, beginning with seniors. The course is open to all North
Colonie students age 16 and up; non-North Colonie students
are accepted only if openings remain. The course consists of 24
hours of classroom instruction and 24 hours of in-car
instruction. The cost of the class is $350. Upon
completion, students receive both the five-hour certificate and the
MV285 certificate used for insurance reduction and license
upgrade. One weekday and two Saturday morning classes are
offered in the fall and spring terms. Summer classes are offered
weekday mornings on an alternating day basis. Students may
register by completing an application found in the main office
on the dates noted below. For additional information, contact

Registration
Registration for the Spring 2010 Driver Education program will
be held January 11 through January 15, 2010. After this period,
registrations will still be accepted on a space-available, first
come, first serve basis.

Classes
The Spring 2010 session will begin January 30, 2010. A
mandatory orientation session will be held on January 28
from 4-5 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Parents are
encouraged to attend.
