Shaker Varsity Baseball raises $4,500 for American Cancer Society

| May 7, 2015

The Tri-City ValleyCats’ Friday Night Series is an opportunity for local high schools to
showcase their talent and give back to the community. The ValleyCats opened their stadium on three consecutive Fridays this spring for local teams to host charity benefit games, with proceeds going to Coaches vs. Cancer (American Cancer Society).

The Shaker Varsity Baseball team played on April 24, and with the help of parents and fans, raised $4,500! Shaker raised the most money out of all other area teams that played that night. At the begining of the game, North Colonie elementary student and cancer survivor threw the first pitch.

The Shaker baseball team has also participated in numerous other community service events, including the Best Buddies walk, the North Colonie Challengers baseball league game, and the North Colonie Little League Opening Day ceremonies. In addition, the team also hosted a North Colonie Little League Clinic.
