Excelling on the playing field and in the classroom as well; it’s an accomplishment that only 27 schools statewide earned, and only three schools in Section II. For the 2013-14 school year, Shaker High School was named a NYS Public High School Athletic Association Scholar Athlete School of Distinction.

NYS Public High School Athletic Association Assistant Director, Bob Stulmaker, presented Superintendent Corr, Shaker High School Principal Richard Murphy, and Board of Education President Linda Harrison with a plaque depicting the honor during the November 24 board meeting.

“This is a tremendous accomplishment,” said Stulmaker. “A school of Shaker’s size, with 27 Varsity teams, to have all 27 teams with a GPA of 90 or above is just a magnificent accomplishment.”
