Assistant superintendent accepts position with central New York school district

After two years, Assistant Superintendent for Business William Furlong is stepping down from his position in the North Colonie Central School District to accept a similar role with the Fayetteville-Manlius Central School District in Onondaga County. He will begin his new position in late July.

During his tenure in North Colonie, Furlong has been instrumental in navigating the fiscal challenges presented during the past two budget cycles and he contributed valuable input and oversight for the fiscal planning of the $106.3 million capital project, approved by voters in May.

“It has been a privilege to be a part of such a dedicated and talented administrative team, and work with such mission-focused educators and professionals,” Furlong said. “It also has been my honor to serve North Colonie’s students and community members.”

“We wish Bill all the best and thank him for his leadership, knowledge, and steadfast approach during the past two years,” Superintendent Joseph Corr said. “We will certainly miss his experience and his business acumen as our district moves forward with the capital project.”

Corr said the search for a replacement for this leadership position is underway. After interviews this week, four candidates have been selected to move forward in the process. Public forums with the four candidates and the Board of Education are set for Wednesday, June 28 at 7 p.m. in the Goodrich Building, 91 Fiddlers Lane in Latham with the following candidates:

  • 8:00 p.m. – Robert Yusko, Assistant Superintendent for Business and Purchasing Agent, Glens Falls City School District
