The Wall of
Remembrance, showcasing the names of veterans who served
in various wars, has been traveling throughout the
community since the Veterans Day Celebration last year.

October 26, 2007 - North Colonie’s community
veterans—both living and deceased—who served in war in all ranks and
branches of service, will be recognized during North Colonie Central
School District’s sixth annual Veterans Day Celebration on Thursday,
Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Shaker High School Auditorium.
The Wall of Remembrance, which was unveiled
during last year’s celebration, will return from a year-long tour
throughout the community. The Wall showcases the names of veterans
who served in various wars, including the Great War and the current
conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Wall traveled within the
school district, the Town of Colonie, and throughout the State
Capitol building in the Executive Chamber, Albany County Executive
Michael Breslin's office, Senator Neil Breslin's office and
Assemblyman Reilly's office. Prior to its return to North Colonie,
it was hosted by the Times Union Newspaper Plaza.
This year's program will feature keynote speaker Brigadier General
Michael Swezey, a presentation about a local community veteran and
his reunion with a fellow soldier in Iwo Jima, musical selections
from the vocal ensemble and chamber players of Shaker High School,
The Siena College Army ROTC Battalion serving as honor guard, The
Albany Pipe and Drum Band and the World of Difference Co-Chairs—Christie
Chenot, Stephanie June, Lea Kananis, Michael Kowalchyk, Randy Miller
and John Millock—serving as masters of
ceremonies.
This free event is open to the entire North
Colonie community.
