Feb.
13, 2008 - After six grueling rounds, Loudonville Elementary School
sixth grader Katrina Simonsen won the district-wide spelling bee
earlier this week by correctly spelling the word "imperceptible."
Simonsen and runners-up Shaker Junior High School eighth grader
Daniel Egan, Blue Creek sixth grader Won-Kwem Kim and Boght Hills
fourth grader Jordanne Mercier will advance to the regional
competition at Proctor's Theater in Schenectady on March 10. The
winner of the regional event will move on to the national
competition in Washington, D.C., in May.
Congratulations to all 27 students who competed in the
annual event on Monday, Feb. 4 at Shaker High School. Students
qualified for the competition after participating in
classroom spelling bees, followed by schoolwide bees at each of the
district's six elementary schools and the junior high school.
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum D. Joseph Corr was the
official pronouncer for the event. |
