October 19, 2007 - Southgate Elementary and eLot Electronics
Recycling, Inc. are holding a major electronic recycling drop off
event for the entire North Colonie Central School District community on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 8 a.m. to
3 p.m. at Southgate Elementary, 30 Southgate Road, Loudonville.
The
cost for recycling electronic equipment and scrap metal is $5 per car
with all proceeds benefiting the Southgate PTA. There is an additional fee
for televisions and batteries.
"The purpose of the event is to educate our community about the
necessity of electronic recycling, as well as the possible hazards to our
environment if electronics are not disposed of properly," said
Southgate Principal Jerri Lynne Dedrick. "It is
our goal to aid the community in being able to do so while also
supporting the PTA."
Chemicals found in electronics such as lead, mercury, lithium,
cadmium, and beryllium can significantly harm the environment if not
properly disposed of or recycled. eLot accepts all electronic
recyclables including computers, printers, cell phones, pagers,
copiers, PDAs, watches, scanners, laptops, speakers, batteries,
monitors and more. eLot will recycle electronic equipment from
work or home through innovative eLot waste management and recycling
services.
