April 7, 2008 - From hip-hop dancing to tae-kwon-do and yoga, Boght
Hills Elementary School students exercised their bodies and minds
during the school’s annual Learning Enrichment Day in late March.
The day-long event, organized by PTA members Claudia Stinton and
Katie Owens, provided students with rich and varied experiences to
address their physical and emotional needs and promoted
healthy lifestyles.
Students engaged in Radio Disney’s motivational children’s fitness
program, “Move It!” and ate healthy snacks and extra-healthy lunch
options. They also learned about the importance of dental health
from a local dentist and the negative effects of smoking on the body
from Albany Medical College students. In addition, students brought
in something meaningful to them and talked with their class about
what makes them feel good.
“My thanks go to the students, staff and volunteers for a tremendous
day of health and wellness that our students are still talking about
and acting on today,” said Boght Hills Principal Kim Greiner.
