On Thursday, August 30, five seniors in Shaker
High School's summer school program officially graduated and
received their diplomas in front of an audience of family and
friends.
Superintendent D. Joseph Corr addressed the
students and their families, reminding them that no matter how they
arrived at this moment, the important thing is that they acheived
their goal.
"What you have demonstrated is a great life
lesson - persistence," Corr said. "You hung in there and worked very
hard to overcome adversity for the reward of a high school diploma
and we are all very proud of you."
"Sometimes there are setbacks in life," Shaker
High School principal Richard Murphy said. "The important thing is
to be able to work through them and reach your goal. All of you have
done that and should be pleased with your hard work. I commend all
of you today.
