Students in Grades K-3:
• To play in the snow, students must be
dressed appropriately wearing a coat, snow pants, boots, gloves
and a hat.
• If they do not have boots, students will be asked to remain on
the blacktop area.
• If students do not have snow pants, they cannot play in the
snow.
• Even when dressed appropriately, students’ clothing may get wet.
It is recommended that a change of clothing be sent in and left in
their cubbies should this occur. The school does not have enough
extra clothing for students to borrow should their clothing get
wet.
Students in Grades 4-6:
• To play in the snow or to slide down the
hill, students must be dressed appropriately wearing a coat, boots
and gloves. A hat is recommended.
• If they do not have boots, students will be asked to remain on
the blacktop area.
• Since many older students do not want to wear snow pants, they
should have a change of clothes in school in the event their
pants, socks, etc. get wet. It is the student’s responsibility to
adhere to the rules regarding appropriate recess attire and to be
prepared with an extra set of clothing. Students have been told
that they need to be dressed appropriately for playing in the snow
or sliding down the hill. We will continue to remind students of
the rules and encourage them to have an extra set of dry clothes
in school.
Winter playground rules
• Students are not allowed to throw snow or
ice at any time.
• Snowboards, toboggans, tubes and molded or
metal sleds are NOT permitted.
• Due to lack of storage space in the
classrooms, only plastic roll-up sleds are permitted at school. In
order to be brought on the bus, the roll-up sleds must be
contained in a bag or backpack so they do not unroll. In the
classroom, the sleds should remain in the bag or backpack.
