This winter, the Foreign Language department
planned and organized three exchange visits, which included trips to
France, Germany and Costa Rica.
Mrs. Rose Marie Hawver planned and coordinated a
very successful program for the 2011 French exchange visit, while
Ms. Brenna Muldoon organized an outstanding exchange trip to
Germany. In addition, Ms. Jessie Morgan planned and organized an
excellent program for the 2011 exchange visit to San Jose, Costa
Rica.
During their two-week stay in Paris, Saarbrücken,
and San Jose, students participated in numerous group activities.
They had a unique opportunity to learn first-hand about other
cultures and gain new perspectives on our country and the world.
Eleventh grade French student, Mattie Rosi-Schumacher,
commented, “This exchange experience has truly given me a passion to
see other countries and immerse myself in world cultures. It was
enlightening, (and really fun, too) to see a world outside of our
own routine.”
Twelfth-grade student, Elyse Barna, added, “Ever
since the beginning of the exchange, I expected to learn about a new
culture and a new way of life, but I had never expected that I would
learn so much about myself.”
All three educational and cultural programs were
developed in an exemplary fashion. They provided students with
valuable learning experiences. Mrs. Hawver, Ms. Muldoon, and
Ms. Morgan are to be commended for giving much of their time,
including their February vacation, to plan and conduct these trips
for the benefit of the students.
