District launches electronic notification system

August 18, 2010 - North Colonie Central Schools is proud to unveil a new way to communicate with our parents and community. School News Notifier (SNN) is an opt-in e-mail news notification system that sends subscribers school and district news, announcements, and information such as closings and school newsletter links directly to their e-mail. Users who subscribe to the district news notification will also receive the new North Colonie e-newsletter that will be sent out monthly, beginning in September.

“SNN is a great tool because it gives us one more avenue for reaching parents and others, when necessary , in order to communicate time-sensitive information,” Superintendent D. Joseph Corr said. “We’ll still communicate in the way we have in the past - phone calls, letters home, the media and the district website - but this will be an additional resource.”

Subscribers must sign-up before they receive notifications. These step-by-step instructions will make the sign-up process easy!

SNN offers Text Messages

For School Closings Only

Users may wish to add text messages - for school closings only — to their accounts. To do so, log-in to access your profile by entering your username and password in the “Returning Users” area at the bottom of the SNN log-in page.
Once you are logged-in, enter your cell phone number (no spaces or dashes) and carrier in the appropriate boxes. Click “Update Profile” and you are done.

Step 1: Visit the SNN log-in page

You can also reach this Web page through the District’s
home page, https://northcolonie.org by clicking on the School News Notifier icon on the right-hand side.

Step 2: Entering Your Information

Once you are at this sign-up page, begin entering the information to register an account. Enter your first and last name, e-mail address and your password. All fields are required, except for your cell phone number and carrier. Enter your cell phone number (no spaces or dashes) and carrier only if you are interested in receiving text messages on your cell phone regarding school closings and delays. Once you have entered your account information, enter a password and select a user group that applies to you. Then click on the button that says, “Create a new profile.”
Note: Once you have created an account, you will use this page to log-in if you want to revise the notifications that you receive.

Step 3: Confirmation E-mail

At this point, you will be brought to a page indicating that an
e-mail will be sent to you with a confirmation code to complete the sign-up process. Use the code that you receive in your e-mail in the appropriate box on this same page.

Step 4: Enter Confirmation Code & Select Notifications

Next, on the same page where you entered the confirmation code, select the notifications you would like to receive. Click “subscribe” at the bottom of the page to complete the process.

A few reminders...

If at any time you would like to change which notifications you receive, you should visit the
SNN log-in page. Enter your e-mail and password in the “Returning Users Log-In” area at the bottom of this page. You will immediately be brought to a page that allows you to select or deselect notifications. Check the ones that you’d like to add; uncheck the notifications you’d like to remove. Click on the “Update Your Profile” button once finished, and your notifications have been changed.
