1, 2010 - With springtime upon us, many families take to the
road for a day of bicycling fun. This is also the time to
think about bicycle safety.
In an effort to educate both parents and
children on the importance of bike safety, Blue Creek held its
annual Bike Rodeo on Saturday, May 22. This safety clinic
featured bike safety inspections, a chalk street obstacle course
where children practiced the rules of the road, helmet
adjustments and fittings, helmet giveaways, and prizes.
One of the highlights of the day was a visit
by OTTO, the talking car! The children gathered around as OTTO
quizzed them on the rules of the road, and bike safety. We thank
AAA Hudson Valley Traffic Safety staff for sharing OTTO with us.
At the end of the day, after each child completed the obstacle
course, they had their picture taken and will receive a special
bicycle “license.”
Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers for their
participation in this educational and fun event!
