May 25, 2010 - Throughout the month of
May, the Art and Music departments at North Colonie have
celebrated Music and Art for Youth month, by highlighting
the best both departments have to offer. The month-long
celebration comes to an end with a two-part art exhibit,
displaying the work of Advanced Studio art students.
The first exhibit will be held on Wednesday, May 26 and will
feature the Advanced Studio 2 art students, juniors and
seniors, who have successfully completed a series of art
courses beginning with Studio Art, progressing into a full
year of Drawing, Advanced Studio Art 1, and many have also
taken half year art electives along the way. Mrs. Carrie Lue
is working with this group of students this year, and they
are excited about their exhibit this Wednesday.
The second exhibit will take place on June 3 and will
highlight Advanced Studio 3 students, who are working with
Mr. Paul Aubin this year, will have their exhibit reception.
These students are our seniors who have also excelled in
visual art over their four years at SHS, and many of them
will pursue art and design programs in college.
Both exhibits will open at 7:00 p.m. in the Shaker High
School Gallery in G wing, preceding the evening Music
Department concert at 7:30pm each night.
Both exhibits feature students enrolled in UHS courses, and
the artwork is always impressive to view. As always, if you
are unable to join us for the evening receptions, we welcome
you to walk through the gallery on your way to the parking
lot later this week and next to view the work of these
advanced art students on display in the Gallery.
