4, 2010 - Sixth-grader Ryan Guo has been selected to
participate in the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science
Camp (BHSSC) at RPI from June 13-25. Ryan submitted an essay
to the BHSSC that explained how interested he was to have an
opportunity to participate in such an exciting experience.
It is safe to say when Ryan found out he was selected, he
was quite happy.
“I just started jumping up and down,” Ryan said. “Most of my
summers are pretty boring. Now, I have the chance to do
something fun and challenging.”
The ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp (BHSSC) is
a free, academic program of The Harris Foundation, which
takes an active role in shaping education in students
entering grade six, seven, or eight in the fall of 2010.
This camp was originally developed as a collaborative effort
of the Harris Foundation, the Houston Independent School
District, the University of Houston (UH) and the
Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU), designed to
support historically underserved and underrepresented
students.
