Rishab Jaggi piles the donated shoes
into boxes. |
March 10, 2010 - Boght Hills Elementary
School conducted a week-long shoe drive that began on March
1 to benefit Share Your Soles, an organization whose mission
is simple: To have every needy person in every distressed
corner of the world have a pair of shoes. What makes this
story so unique is that the idea came from a student.
Sixth-grader Rishab Jaggi was so moved by after the Boght
Hills fundraiser “Hearts for Haiti” in February, he wanted
to do more. Rishab and his father approached Boght Hills
Principal Kim Greiner and suggested working with Share Your
Soles. Greiner thought it was a fantastic idea and asked
Rishab to help present the idea to the school at an
assembly.
The Boght Hills community went into their closets and
responded by donating over 460 pairs of shoes. The collected
donation will go to survivors of the earthquake in Haiti.
“We never anticipated the incredible outpouring of
generosity when many families in our community are facing
difficult financial times too,” Greiner said. “We are truly
blessed to live and work in such a supportive environment.”
