March 4, 2010 - The Advanced Digital Arts
class at Shaker High School, instructed by Mr. Doolittle,
was responsible for designing a number of logos for members
of the business community this year. Three of those logos
were for the New York State Amateur Boxing Championships.
Designs by Drea Larose and Carly Brundige were selected for
the t-shirts and sweatshirts to be sold at the event. Jason
Carnegie, pictured, designed the banner which hung ringside
at the Turning Stone Casino for the event on February 13 and
14.
“It was a great feeling knowing that something I created was
going to be on display at a place where a lot of people were
going to see it,” Carnegie said. “Without Mr. Doolittle though,
none of that would have been possible.”
Carnegie has taken many levels of art classes at Shaker High
School. He knew he had a strong passion for design, but that
passion did not come to fruition right away.
“I took Studio Art at first,” he paused. “I don’t have the best
artistic ability. On a computer, though, I was able to do a lot
more. I took advertising and a few other classes and was able to
piece what I learned together to see the whole picture.”
He began to explore Photoshop and started to realize that
Graphic Design is a field that he would one day love to be
involved in.
“Graphic Design is definitely a passion of mine,” he said. “I
have a lot of fun with it and can see myself doing something in
the design field in the future.”
