February
12, 2010 - Several second and sixth graders at Boght Hills
School asked the school counselor, Mrs. VanSleet, if they
could organize a drive to raise funds for the earthquake
victims in Haiti. It was decided that the February School
Success service project would be Hearts for Haiti.
Students and staff who brought in a dollar, some giving much
more, received a heart stamp for their hand and a special red
link for their Rachel’s Challenge classroom chain of kindness
and compassion. Students, families and staff generously
contributed $ 1,140.00 to help others in need.
“What a great learning experience for our students to know that
they can make a difference worldwide,” Boght Hills Principal Kim
Greiner said.” “Our thanks to Dr. Shamlian, and her colleagues
at Albany Medical Center, Partners in Health, who will ensure
the money gets to Haiti.”
