Superintendent Randy Ehrenberg was bestowed a prestigious
honor at the New York State Council of School
Superintendents (NYSCOSS) Winter Institute in mid-January.
The Council presented Mrs. Ehrenberg with the Appreciation
Award for her nine years of work, including leadership on
council committees and in mentoring activities.
Since 1976, the award has been given annually in recognition
of an active member’s efforts on behalf of The Council.
“Randy is receiving this award due to her exemplary
volunteer efforts to The Council,” Superintendent of the
Jericho School District and Distinguished Friend of the
Council, Hank Grishman said. “She has offered sessions at
the Aspiring and New Superintendents' workshops every year
for the past seven years.”
“It is a true honor to be recognized by one’s peers,”
Ehrenberg said. “I am appreciative that our Board of
Education has been receptive to the volunteer work that I
have done for The Council of School Superintendents. The
Board recognizes that my work has served to enhance the fine
reputation of our district.”
Mrs. Ehrenberg wrote a segment of the curriculum for the
Future Superintendents Academy and currently serves as a
coach to two fellows. Previously, she chaired the Pathways
to Leadership for Minorities and Women Committee and has
been a member of the Commissioners Advisory Council, House
of Delegates and the Curriculum Committee.
“Assisting and mentoring the next generation of
superintendents is a tremendous joy and work that I plan to
continue when I retire,” Ehrenberg said.
In November, Mrs. Ehrenberg announced that she will be
retiring on July 31, 2010, after serving as Superintendent
of North Colonie for nine years.
