January 15, 2010 - According to Governor
David Paterson, with revenues increasing state coffers to a
more comfortable level, aid payments to schools that were
delayed in December will now be paid. North Colonie will be
paid its promised aid of $61,000 from the month of December,
as well as its aid from January, that totals $928,000.
"Because revenues have now come in to the extent that we
were expecting in January, I am now, on Friday, going to
complete all the payments to everyone who was supposed to
get money from the state in December," Paterson stated.
Paterson said there may be problems similar to those in
December, if the Legislature does not act to cut a looming
budget deficit. The state budget is due April 1, and the
governor will release his executive budget Jan. 19.
We will continue to monitor this situation as further
economic news is released. If you have any questions about
this matter, please contact the North Colonie Business
Office, 785-8591.
