Rachel's Challenge t-shirts have arrived

January 4, 2010 - On Wednesday, December 23, Forts Ferry celebrated their successes with Rachel’s Challenge by students and staff wearing the new Rachel’s Challenge T-shirts and enjoying an assembly. At the assembly, it was announced that Forts Ferry has earned 506 more links as a school, giving us a grand total of 2,962 links of kindness.

Music teacher, Miss Salada, along with the sixth grade all-district chorus members, taught the students and staff sign language to accompany the Rachel’s Challenge song, “Power of One.”

Lastly, the different projects that grade levels and KC Clubs have undertaken were shared.

Projects included:

• Craft projects for the Albany Medical
Center Children’s Hospital;

• Created cards for children in the hospital
and for the elderly in nursing homes;

• Collected toys and related items to be
given to children in the children’s
hospital;

• Sent chain links and care packages to
soldiers and candy for the soldiers to
hand out to children in Iraq;

• Collected donations for the Hudson
Mohawk Animal Shelter;

• Collected coins for the American Breast
Cancer Association;

• Created a “Dear Rachel” advice column
for younger students;

• Made a video for Mrs. Bottino and Mrs.
Clayton wishing them a speedy
recovery.
