December 4, 2009 - The holiday season is a time for celebration, but it is also a time for reflection. Shaker High School Social Studies teacher, Daniel Weaver and Science teacher Rachael Toth have launched Operation: Wishing Our Troops Well, a campaign to help our soldiers in the Middle East and the loved ones of those killed in the Fort Hood shooting.

Students are encouraged to write cards of encouragement, sorrow and well wishes for the fighting troops and the families of those lost in duty. Donations are also being accepted, for example, new stuffed animals or small items that might make a child, who lost a mother or father in the Fort Hood tragedy, smile.

Operation: Wishing Our Troops Well will be running from December 2 through December 15. Drop-off boxes can be found in rooms A212, B202, LaFollette Office and the Main Office.
