12, 2009 - Have you ever had a bad day?
How about a terrible, horrible, no-good,
very bad, day?
The first-graders at Southgate Elementary got the opportunity to
see what one of those days felt like. However, contrary to what
you may believe, they all came away with smiles on their faces.
The third grade students put on a play for first-graders of the
famous book: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good,
Very Bad Day. The third graders were divided into four
groups. One group was responsible for the background music
throughout the play, while the other three took on the task of
acting out the many scenes from the book. Mrs. McManus, General
Music and Chorus teacher, read the book aloud. The first graders
watched in amazement and laughed along when Mrs. McManus read a
funny part of the book.
One thing was clear at the end of the play: All students
involved had anything but a terrible, horrible, no good, very
bad day.
