October 22, 2009 - Seventeen Shaker High School students have been selected to perform with the NYSSMA Area All-State Music Festival on Friday-Saturday, November 20-21, 2009. The New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) advocates for and improves music education across New York State by promoting appropriate activities and programs for students in school music programs. These SHS students were chosen from a 50-mile radius to perform in the Area All-State Band, Chorus and Orchestra. Competition for these ensembles can be very stiff. This is the largest number of Shaker High School students selected for this prestigious festival in recent memory.
