Loudonville holds Field Day on beautiful autumn day

October 6, 2009 - Under a sky blanketed with puffy clouds and a bright, warm sun, the students from Loudonville Elementary gathered together for an early treat in the school year. Field Day was held Tuesday on the lawn behind the school. Parents, teachers and yes, hundreds of enthusiastic students, turned out for a day filled with education, music and fun.

The day began with members of the Loudonville Elementary band performing a wonderful rendition of the National Anthem. Following the performance, students from each grade level recapped the history of sports dating back to the early twentieth century. These displays included examples of song, dance and spoken word.

Following the introductions, each grade broke up into teams indicated by a different color. Soon after, the activities followed and included a Frisbee toss, sack races, a bean-bag search, and many other challenging games. The students cheered and rooted on their teammates and had many laughs along the way. After each event, the students rotated from station to station and were given instructions on the upcoming game.

Smiles were abundant on this early autumn day as Loudonville students got a jump-start on what plans to be a very good year.
