Riley Schmidt has been accepted into the U.S. Military
Academy at West Point as a member of the class of 2013.
West Point
is one of the most academically competitive colleges in the
United States. Applicants are evaluated for admission on the
basis of academic performance, demonstrated leadership
potential, physical aptitude and medical qualification. Each
candidate must also obtain a nomination from a member of
Congress or from the Department of the Army.
By law, West Point graduates are
commissioned as officers to active duty and serve in the U.S.
Army for a minimum of five years.
