May 19, 2009 – North Colonie Central School District voters approved
the district's 2009-10 budget proposal by nearly a 2-to-1 margin.
The final tally was 1,455 yes votes to 796 no votes, meaning 64.6
percent of votes were in favor of the budget proposal.
The $90,096,000 budget is expected to increase residential property taxes
between 2 percent and 2.9 percent, the lowest increase in more than
a decade. The district
will set its final tax rates for the 2009-10 school year in August,
based on final assessment figures and final equalization rates for
each town as provided by the state Office of Real
Property Services.
In the Board of Education elections, Mary Nardolillo and Maryellen
Raup ran unopposed for re-election. Nardolillo received 1,793 votes,
while Raup received 1,496 votes. Board members are elected to
five-year terms that begin on July 1 of the following school year.
The term of office for the two seats up for election this year is
July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2014.
