Latham Ridge fourth-graders participated in the district's recent Economics Summit.

April 16, 2009 - Latham Ridge Elementary students participated in the district's recent Economics Summit.

The event was part of the district's Learning Enrichment Program and was held at Boght Hills Elementary School on April 2.

A total of 10 economics questions were posed to fourth-grade "economics experts" from all of the district's elementary schools. Latham Ridge students answered two of the questions; one question about the need to pay taxes and another about whether a fast food restaurant would provide economic benefits to a Thai community.

The students were required to respond with definitions of the concepts and refer to materials the had learned from during classroom lessons. They then had to make a recommendation based on the needs of the country asking the question.
