April 2, 2009 - After working for several weeks with eba Dance Theater instructors Maude Baum and Naomi Wemberly-Hartman, Maplewood Elementary School's fifth- and sixth-grade students performed a traditional Russian folk dance for the delight of parents, faculty, students and members of the North Colonie Board of Education.

The dance the students performed was also performed by Maplewood's eight-graders last year as part of a grant the school received through the New York State Alliance for the Arts through the efforts of foreign language teacher Bonny Einstein. Maplewood's long standing Russian language program has over the years enabled students to experience many of the rich traditions of Russian culture.
